BARC ratings Wk 29: Star Plus continues to lead urban+rural viewership

BARC ratings for Week 29 (July 16-22) of 2016 [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals] saw Star Plus continue to maintain its lead among Hindi GECs. Zee TV held on to its No. 2 spot.

Star Plus continued to be in the No. 1 spot in Week 29 as well, witnessing a gross viewership of 696,376, a decline from 720,065 recorded last week. Two of its shows – ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ and ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ – featured among the top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in Week 29 in rural+urban. ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ slipped a notch to No. 3 this week, garnering 10,022 impressions (000s). Meanwhile, ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’, which had made a re-entry at No. 4 last week, slipped a notch to the fifth spot in Week 29, garnering 8,445 impressions (000s) in rural+urban. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, which was placed in the third spot in Week 28, moved out of the list this week.

Zee TV, which had moved past Colors to claim the No. 2 spot in Week 28, held on to this position this week. The channel saw an increase in its gross viewership from 597,092 in Week 28 to 636,898 this week. Two of Zee TV’s shows made it to the list of most viewed shows on Hindi GECs in rural+urban this week. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ continued to be the most watched show on Hindi GECs in rural+urban, garnering 13,491 impressions (000s) in Week 29. The grand finale of singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2016, which was aired on Sunday, July 17, was the second most viewed show on Hindi GECs in rural+urban this week. The show garnered 11,806 impressions (000s).

Colors remained at the third spot in Week 29, registering gross viewership of 584,678, a marginal increase from 584,267 recorded last week.

Star Utsav climbed up a notch to No. 4 in Week 29, witnessing a gross viewership of 450,259, compared to 436,719 recorded last week.

Life OK, too, saw gains this week, climbing up to the fifth spot from No. 6 in Week 28. The channel saw a rise in its gross viewership to 437,569 in Week 29 from 410,265 recorded last week.

Zee Anmol, on the other hand, slipped to the sixth spot from No. 4 in Week 28. The channel saw a fall in its gross viewership from 465,506 in Week 28 to 433,515 this week. Period drama ‘Jodha Akbar’ climbed up a notch to No. 4 this week among the top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in rural+urban, registering 8,494 impressions (000s).

Sony Pal, which had slipped to the seventh spot last week, remained in that position in Week 29 as well, witnessing growth in its gross viewership to 413,606 from 407,413 last week.

Sony Entertainment Television remained at No. 8 in Week 29, garnering gross viewership of 359,426, a dip from 381,519 recorded last week.

Sony SAB, too, continued in the ninth spot this week. The channel recorded gross viewership of 358,682, an increase from 345,082 recorded in Week 28.

Placed at the tenth spot, Rishtey saw a rise in its gross viewership to 289,896 in Week 29 from 284,467 recorded last week.
