Cannes Lions 2016: 7 Indian entries make it to Film Lions shortlist

‘#DadsShare The Load’, ‘Beauty Tips By Reshma’, ‘A Giant’s Story’, ‘Sons of Vikrant’ and Thomas Cook’s ‘Man’ film are among the seven shortlisted entries from India in Film Lions.

Two films from the ‘Beauty Tips By Reshma’ campaign – titled ‘How to get Perfect Red Lips’ and ‘How to Apply Eyeliner’ – have been shortlisted in Film Lions. The campaign, done by Ogilvy & Mather for the NGO Make Love Not Scars, features acid attack survivor Reshma. The campaign calls for ban on sale of acid and an end to acid attacks.

BBDO India and Red Ice Films have secured two shortlists for the ‘#Dad’sShare The Load’ film done for Procter & Gamble’s detergent brand Ariel Matic. The film promotes gender quality and calls for men to lend a hand at household chores.

Leo Burnett’s film, titled ‘Sons of Vikrant’ for Bajaj V motorcycles has made it to the Film Lions shortlist. The film salutes the Indian Navy personnel who had served in the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, which was decommissioned in January 1997. In January 2014, the ship was scrapped for metal. This metal is now used to make parts of the new Bajaj V bikes.

Publicis India’s campaign for Ambuja Cement, featuring wrestler Khali and titled ‘A Giant’s Story’, has also been shortlisted in Film Lions. The film shows the predicament Khali faces due to his giant stature as he inadvertently keeps breaking and damaging things at his house, and how Ambuja Cement comes to his rescue.

Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi and Lightbox Films’ work, titled ‘Man’, done for Thomas Cook has also been shortlisted.

The Film Lions winners will be announced on June 25, 2016.
