<p>In an exclusive interaction with Adgully, Vivek Sharma, Senior, VP, Rediff.com, shared his insights about ‘Deal Ho Jaye’. Deemed as one of the pioneers of e-commerce in India, we asked Sharma to give us an idea about the present key trends in the e-commerce space. “This industry is growing and with the penetration going up, smartphones and 3G also growing in the country. We are at the right point of crust for our next major growth. I will not be able to divide the number that we have registered last time, but yes e-commerce is one of the best industries in terms of growth potential over the next couple of decades,” Sharma revealed. </p>
<p>He further elaborated, “E-commerce is a big industry, if you look at Rediff, we are primarily into e-commerce. We launched Rediff.com ‘shopping’ and now, Rediff ‘Deal Ho Jaye’. So, for us the important thing is to grow, and in the years to come e-commerce will contribute a significant share to the market in the country.” </p>
<p>‘Deal Ho Jaye’ was launched few months back, could you explain us the concept behind it. “This is a segment which is growing rapidly, because it caters to the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This is for businesses who don’t have resources or who don’t want to explore with channels of   marketing, advertising, television, other online sites and other advertising areas. For that purpose, Deal Ho Jaye has city specific pages i.e. different deals for different cities such as Mumbai and Delhi. It provides opportunity for SMEs to advertise and promote their businesses. Consumers get good offerings in terms of rate prices and for us it’s a new line of business. And I think for all stake holders like us, consumers as well as small and medium enterprises makes it unique. I see a lot of scope in the future in this business,” explained the senior VP. </p>
<p>Being a nascent industry, where do you see yourself and your competitors, to that Sharma replied, “This industry’s segment is the low cost entry barrier. There won’t be a natural tendency for many companies to start with this pace today. In the long run, anyone who takes care of the consumer induces as well as tackles the demand of enterprises and can sustain and grow well. Our strategy is definitely keeping this in mind and whatever we have so far accomplished. We are ensuring that we provide long term benefits to our consumers as well as to the businessmen who are associated with us.”  </p>
<p>He added, “As I have said earlier, for SME tie-ups, this is something that businessmen can’t advertise, reason being a very expensive proposition. So, where do they go showcasing their businesses? Thus Rediff ‘Deal Ho Jaye’ becomes a good platform for them. We have received great responses not only from metros but also from SEC B and SEC C towns. Today, we are there in more than 44 different locales across the country.”</p>
<p>Rediff.com itself is a very strong brand and has a very large number of unique users every month. Keeping this in mind Rediff.com started campaigns last month to promote the new offerings.</p>
<p>Speaking about their consumer’s and target audience, Sharma said, “We would be bringing event specific deals in all the businesses and major towns, which will help the SME’s to grow their businesses and of course customers will benefit with our services such as deals in restaurants, hotels and similar set-ups. And, if we directly link TGs to the internet population in the country today, that itself help us to identify how we operate in that space. The second thing is that, as per our business role, we have deals in sectors like healthcare, FMG’s, saloons, adventure sports and car services. This provides options for customers with different needs and tips.”</p>
<p>Amongst all the segments and the categories, customers pick up the deal from the two most important categories i.e. restaurants and Spas, and this is followed by travel and adventure sports. These are the categories that are selling the most on Rediff ‘Deal Ho Jaye’.  </p>
<p>Many are predicting 2012 as the year of recession. We asked Sharma, what he thinks about it, “Sites like Rediff.com would not be affected”, he commented. “Recession doesn’t impact our country to a large extent, as we are a growing economy. Nature of our business is to provide value to our consumers, and in that process we are creating a kind of interest amongst our consumers who are looking forward for deals with great services and discounts. Apart, from this we will be moving the e-commerce way very shortly.” </p>
<p>Rediff ‘Deal Ho Jaye’ is doing well online, but are you looking to secure deals offline? “Our concept is such that where a consumer subscribes to deals of their choice online, and goes to the respective location with the coupon and redeems the same upon arrival and asked it to be marked to the list sheet. Thus, accordingly, our service person has to go the location to get that service. <p>In an exclusive interaction with Adgully, Navneet Kaushal, founder and CEO of PageTraffic, explained the challenge faced as an SEO agency and their core competencies to survive in the market.</p>
<p>The biggest challenge faced by PageTraffic according to Navneet Kaushal, founder and CEO of PageTraffic, is that, “We have faced it in the terms of growth having knowledgeable people. For us, challenge is not been in terms of sale. It’s all about getting the right set of people, quality of people to work with you.  Of course it’s a new field and that too not more than 12-years- old. Getting people who are experienced or has a bend is difficult. Nobody wants to make a career in it and there are no courses in it yet, so that’s the biggest challenge. “</p>
<p>“The second challenge for us has been the growing and demanding customers when it comes to the quality of work, but we have been able to overcome those by putting loads of quality checks. Quality checks is one of the toughest one in the industry, everything goes through a lot of quality checks. And that’s the reason our clients appreciate, our quality and we are trying to build it.”</p>
<p>The core competency of PageTraffic is the search engine marketing. PageTraffic, primarily being an SEO company, now does a lot of other work in fields such as social media and web development. But, the main component lies with the self-engine optimization.</p>
<p>Navneet explained the issues that they faced while acquiring clients for SEO, he said, “It’s been an issue because clients still think that it’s free. If I go 5 years back, people would think SEO is free. So, it was very tough for me to explain to someone that SEO is not free, and that was something which took a lot of time. So, now people understand the value, but still some people think that it’s cheap and its cheapest form of marketing, that’s the biggest challenge. But it has grown from last couple of years.”</p>
<p>Being a SEO company, we asked Navneet about their focus area as of now, he replied, “For us, now the focus area is India. Though we have been focusing outside US and UK, but now are focus is SME sector in India. We are also trying for tie ups, some of which we have in India with agencies, whose core competencies don’t lie in SEO. For example, Google in 2011 had 300 updates; it’s not easy for everybody to keep up with that. They are jack of all but we are the master of it. So, we are consulting for companies who already have SEO teams. Nobody knows they are doing it right or wrong, so now we are doing loads of workshops. And, we want to grow more in that area.” </p>
<p>“We do face stumbling blocks and that has been, previously when our customers were in the US, for us the time zone was a problem. But, we do overcome that.  We hired people, we did not have an office in the US, so we opened our office in Chicago and that was the major stumbling block. People are more comfortable in talking to somebody in US, in their accent, according to their time. We are still want quality of people who are passionate about digital marketing, and that’s been still something we are trying to overcome. I am sure every digital agency has the same pains,” explained Navneet. </p>
<p>Being a SEO company, PageTraffic focuses more on hospitality industries such as travel, hotels, travel agencies, and travel websites. Apart from that they are also focusing on, local business like- plumber services in town or a dentist or a local doctor. As local search has risen, loads of e-commerce sites are coming in India. And that’s one of the focus areas of PageTraffic. </p>
<p>We asked Navneet to share with us his success mantra &#8211; “Prime thing is passion. Something which started as my hobby is my profession. When hobby becomes profession, my favourite past time is my work. To have passion for this industry and passion to do something better, passion to evolve has helped us the most. Every second year we revamp our process, our offerings. Not because our clients demand that, but because we think the time has come to do so. We introduce new features; new types of reporting which our clients appreciate. These have been some of the key learnings for us and have been good for our growth. Most of people come to us, just because they know our brand. For us, word of mouth is still our number one way of generating more business.”</p>

<p>Bengali content is the latest in language offerings from Yahoo! in India, after the release of Hindi, Tamil and Marathi. It offers fresh news ranging from politics, sports, entertainment from across the world, as well as local news from in and around Kolkata. Select articles from ABP’s supplements such as Pustak Porichoy (book review), Kolkatar Korcha (snippets from Kolkata), Baracharcha (celebrity interviews), Natyo Samalochana (theatre review), Probondho (essays), and weekend specials will also be showcased on the site.</p>

<p>The site has been built on the Yahoo! Publishing Platform and is jointly managed by Yahoo! and My Ananda Bazar Patrika. This latest launch is fourth in the series of language partnerships that started with Hindi, followed by Tamil and Marathi.</p>
<p>As per the ICube report by IAMAI, the Indian language audience is growing at a rate of nearly 40% per year and the next wave of digital audience in India is expected to emerge from the non-English speaking population. These statistics indicate that there is a large base of Internet users in India who are keen to access content in their own language.</p>

</div><p class="wp-caption-text">-</p></div> BigFlicks a part of Reliance Group’s, Digital Entertainment Business today announces the launch of a new Ad Campaign to increase awareness and promote India’s first and the only of its kind online Movies on Demand service &#8211; BIGFlix+ which lets the user ’Click-Download-Play’ over 500 Blockbusters at a subscription fee of Rs 249/ a month across PC, Tablets and Mobiles.</p>
<p>Today’s metro generation is not able to see all films in theatres; they don’t want to watch the same on TV because of lack of variety and time boundation. There was a clear need  gap of a service that can offer  users the best in class movie experience on the devices that they are comfortable using – laptop, mobile or/and tablets.  Hence the brief to agency was to establish BIGFLIX+ as a premium movie on demand service, where users of the service can also download blockbuster movies in addition to merely streaming them online.</p>
<p>Commenting on the new campaign, Shreyash Sigtia, Business Head, BigFlicks said, “The basic idea behind the campaign is to instill a thought in the viewer’s mind that they can now finally select a movie of their choice and view it wherever &#038; whenever they want to see it. With BIGFLIX +, they can rest assured about the picture quality and enjoy a complete movie experience without the annoying ad breaks, on the device of their choice. This makes BigFlix+ service a Personal Blockbuster Theatre of the viewer.<br />
“We deliberately kept the creative simple and focused the communication on the core offering and its benefit in order to build the category in the country.” he added. </p>
<p>On the completion of this campaign, Joy Ghoshal, Marching Ants, said, “Film content is not exclusive and it’s viewing comes with it’s irritants, so we decided to challenge the biggest provider; television. Big Flix + is about to change the role of the laptop and other mobile devices to that of a ‘blockbuster theatre’, supported by huge choice of quality content and uninterrupted viewing. Keeping the communication simple, informative and yet interesting was the challenge.</p>

This move, a global first for LinkedIn, will give more recruiters in India access to high potential candidates and drive the growth of the local talent economy. Specifically for India, LinkedIn India is rolling out localized versions with India pricing for offerings like LinkedIn Recruiter, which will allow Indian recruiters to search and target profiles in India.
