Chairman & MD, Adille Sumariwalla moves on from Clear Channel

After 8 long years, Adille Sumariwalla has decided to move on and has put in his papers at Clear Channel as of March 31, 2013. Till now he was the Chairman and Managing Director of Clear Channel in India and Head of the ‘Clear Channel Mudra’ JV.

With outstanding leadership qualities and integrity, he built a formidable team of professionals sharing the same values. He and his team have worked with various brands such as Standard Chartered Bank, L&T Limited, Tata Motors, Tata Ventures, Tata Housing, Yahoo India, Volkswagen, Godrej security solutions, Big Bazar, ICICI Prudential, InOrbit Mall, Honda 2 wheelers, etc..

Previous to Clear Channel he worked with Mid-day for several years, and as ‘Group Director Corporate and Outdoor’, he spearheaded new initiatives of the Company in the space of Radio, internet, print and was entrusted the task of setting up the OOH Division in 1997, which then merged its OOH operations with Clear Channel India in 2004. Presently, he is a Director on the Board of Next Media Works Ltd. (formerly Mid-Day Multimedia Ltd.) and SE TransStadia Ltd.

He started his professional career with Tata Engineering & Locomotive Co Ltd. (now TATA Motors Limited) where he worked for 15 years in various capacities, after which he was appointed as the founding CEO of the The Asian Age Newspaper in 1994.

He holds a Master's degree in Commerce (Management) from University of Bombay, and an Executive MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, topping the Dean’s List with Distinction.

This world-class athlete, who represented India at the Olympic Games at Moscow, an Asian medalist, is the recipient of India's highest honour for sportspersons - the Arjuna Award, from the President of India. He has recently been elected President of the Athletics Federation of India.
