Chennai Express to release with 4200 prints!

With only 4 days left for the release of Chennai Express on 9th August 2013 the news of it’s release is getting bigger and bigger. The producers UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies  are releasing Chennai Express in more theaters than any other Bollywood movie in the history of Indian cinemas overseas. The movie is releasing in 50+ countries and is gearing up for a huge worldwide release in 700+ screens which makes it the widest simultaneous world release for an Indian film overseas. Also to get these many screens during Eid is a record of sorts as in most Muslim countries like Gulf, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore no films releases during Ramzan and all queue in to release their films during Eid. To manage screens during Eid is heartening for the producers and fans of SHAH RUKH KHAN.

Shah Rukh Khan fans are not just in India but spread across the globe. What better example than the news that his upcoming film Chennai Express will be seen by many fans globally. For the first time, maximum number of new markets have been locked for the film and this is even before the release of the film. The film will be releasing in Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Peru and Israel and moreover the film will see a day and date release in Peru, Latin America a first for any Indian film ever. In the past My Name Is Khan and Guzaarish were released as delayed releases in Peru.

The film is releasing in 3500 screens in India which is widest for Disney UTV Studios. In this regard Gaurav Verma, Director - India Theatrical Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV, said, “Chennai Express is hugely anticipated film and is in huge demand all over. We are targeting to release the movie in more than 3,500 screens making it our widest release in India and probably the widest of all time. We want to make the film available to everyone and by releasing the film at this scale we hope we will be able to cater to this huge demand from audiences and exhibitors.”
As far as the international scene is concerned the film will be releasing in 700+screens  overseas which is the widest ever for any Indian release.  Amrita Pandey, Executive Director - Syndication, International Distribution & Disney Media Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV shared her views on global release of the film. She said, “There's been an obvious and huge demand for Chennai Express across cinemas worldwide. In many countries, Eid and school mid-term holidays have made next weekend one of the busiest in terms of number of English and international language releases. In such a week, the number of screens, locations and shows we have secured for this movie gives it the right footprint. So fans of Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty can watch Chennai Express with their family and friends at a theatre near them during this festive season.”

Among many of the firsts comes another interesting aspect of Chennai Express. Have you ever imagined watching a Hindi film in various languages dubbed or non-dubbed. Very rare!! But now we get to hear that Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming release will not only release in Hindi but 10 international languages. Fans across the globe will be able to see Chennai Express in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, German, Hebrew, Dutch, Turkish and Malay. So much so that all promotional materials like posters too have been localized. The films will have a subtitle in all the languages for the audiences to enjoy SRK’s film. The movie will be released in North America across 195 screens, in the UK 175 screens, in the Middle East 55 screens and  Australia 30 screens.
