Cricbuzz top online cricket destination during ICC World T20

Cricbuzz, a leading cricket destination on desktop and mobile platforms, has reinforced its premier position during the recently concluded ICC World T20.  Cricbuzz was the most visited destination in India on desktop and mobile web during the tournament in March. As per comScore, 6.63 million unique visitors visited the Cricbuzz desktop site and 15.9 million unique visitors accessed the Cricbuzz mobile site from smartphones in India.

During the ICC World T20, users spent 11.5 billion minutes (equivalent to almost 21,000 years) across the Cricbuzz properties on desktop and mobile platforms. The Cricbuzz Apps recorded 15.5 million active users during the tournament in March, a growth of 30 per cent over March 2015, when ICC Cricket World Cup was on.

The Cricbuzz app has now been downloaded by over 30 million smartphone users with over 3 million new users installing the app during the ICC World T20. In addition, ‘Cricbuzz’ was also one of the most searched terms on Google, prompting as many searches as the latter’s native search term, ‘Cricket Score’.

Pankaj Chhaparwal, CEO, Cricbuzz, commented, “While we have led the digital cricket category for a long time now, we have stamped our authority as a ‘big match player’ with this resounding triumph. It was a foregone conclusion that brands and websites would ramp up their online presence for the World T20. What establishes our leadership in online cricket content further is that not only was Cricbuzz the most widely used cricket destination, but also our content innovations such as the expert analyses by Virender Sehwag and the special World T20 section were well-received by users. Sehwag’s analysis videos alone generated a staggering 21 million views.”

The semi-final played between India and West Indies was the most trafficked match day on Cricbuzz, attracting over 23 million users across platforms.

On the back of its tremendous success during the World T20, Cricbuzz expects an even better response during the ongoing Vivo Indian Premier League 2016.

The Cricbuzz app is available to download through the Play Store for Android, the iOS App Store, the Microsoft Store for Windows Mobile and the Blackberry World.
