Cricket Today, becomes a 2 in 1 magazine

Cricket Today, becomes a 2 in 1 magazine. A 2 -in-1 magazine, a unique concept of a dual magazine with 50% cricket content – brand 'Cricket Today' & the other 50% flipped from the other side a sports content – brand 'Sports Plus'.

Why Sports Plus?

The initiative is a result of a constant demand of having a magazine beyond Cricket which would cover the other sports gaining momentum in our country. The super success of the Indian Premier League, the IPL as its popularly called, has led to the emergence of new leagues such as the Indian Hockey League, Indian Badminton League, Indian Football League or the Super League, Indian Grand Prix and most recently the launch of International Tennis League has made India a major hub for other sports as well.

Names such as Akhil Kumar, Vijendra Singh and Mary Kom, who have popularised boxing; Sushil Kumar of the wrestling fame; Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang who have brought shooting to the limelight and ofcourse Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu who have coaxed many girls to wield the racquet are just a few names who have accounted for the popularity of all the other sports in our country.

Cricket has, on the other hand, become a very expensive sport.

Hence, Brands want to evaluate options where they can be present in a non clutter environment and yet be available amongst their target ambience – fitness/active sports. This has eventually led brands to invest in sports other than Cricket.

Why did we not launch a separate product?

In today's environment, where magazine's are fighting for their place and existence,we felt launching a new product and creating its space in the market would not be an easy task.

Our conscious decision to convert Cricket Today into a dual magazine has been well supported by the fact that in our country Cricket still remains the most popular sport, which is followed like a religion and cricketers are worshiped like God. Also, we wanted to bank upon the existing popularity of Cricket Today which enjoys a vast readership base.

Sports Plus has also helped us broaden our base to young women thereby making it a unisex product preferred by Men and women alike.

Sports Plus is an action packed, obsession led magazine, covering all the above and many more sports in detail and giving its readers a compelling blend of indepth analysis, special reports, previews, interviews with the leading sports figures and ofcourse the scoops and gossips of legendary sports icons.

Cricket Today would continue to focus on the game of cricket and the lifestyle of Cricketers.

This new dual 2-in-1 magazine would aptly represent the desire and demand of the youth of India, the Gen Z, who are patrons and followers of not only cricket but are interested in other international sports as well.

There is also a separator within the magazine on a thicker paper which has a Cricket TV schedule on one side and all other Sports TV schedule on the other.
