Cult Sci-Fi show The X-Files is back after 13 long years and Star World Premiere HD is bringing it to Indian Television!

The year 2016 brings the biggest treat for all Sci-Fi fans as Star World Premiere HD gears up to premiere the all new season of one of the longest-running Sci-Fi shows - ‘The X-Files’!  A pop culture phenomenon since its inception in 1992, the series is all set to stir up deep-rooted nostalgia with the spectacular return of its revival show ‘The X-Files: Event Series’ after 13 years. Along with the series, lead actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will also be marking their big return as the show’s ever loved couple Mulder and Scully. The actors will reprise their iconic roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully respectively.

The X-Files: Event Series will be making its much-awaited come-back in India, premiering on Saturday, January 30th at 9 PM only on Star World Premiere HD and will continue to air every Saturday at the same time.

The show that defined the Sci-Fi genre across the globe follows the personal and professional lives of Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), now former FBI agents. 13 years ago, Agents Mulder and Scully sought to uncover the X-Files - marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Earlier a skeptic, Dana later becomes a reluctant believer as she along with Fox work on pursuing the truth. Reversing gender stereotypes, Fox, on the other hand, was seen as a thorough believer throughout the series. The 2016 series The X-Files: Event Series will be seen bringing an edge of contemporariness combined with nostalgia as Mulder and Scully once again find themselves amid a newer government conspiracy that is more in-tune with the current times. The highly anticipated revival series seamlessly weaves an immensely familiar tapestry where the cases they solve resonate with the present-day socio-political scenarios, advancements in technology as well as the developments in science.

Speaking on the revival of the series, franchise creator Chris Carter stated, “In 2002 when we went off the air, the world looked to government to protect them and us.  It was not a time when people wanted to discuss government conspiracies.  They were only looking at foreign conspiracies and terrorist conspiracies, so when we departed the world was one way.  We are now looking at a world that is now upside down from that period, when governments are now suspect. The X-Files now approaches some of these modern issues in a way that it incorporates them in a brand new look at the government conspiracy, really a hard 90 degree turn.”

Lead Actor David Duchovny also spoke about how he loved playing Fox Mulder’s character on the show, “I love doing the show. It’s a great show. I like the character. I like trying to figure out how to play him. Go back to the beginning, I always liked his willingness. It was like Don Quixote. He was just going to keep on trying to win, trying to prove it. And, I like that. There’s something beautiful in that.”

An ecstatic Gillian Anderson also expressed herself stating what she looked forward to most when she got to know that The X-Files series was being revived, “I think I was mostly looking forward to working with David.  We’ve become friends over the years in the interim, and I knew that we’d probably have a good time. I also think I really liked the idea of being able to give something to the fans that they were wanting. The show used to have a mix of mythology and monster of the week and comedy episodes, and that’s exactly what we give the audience in these six.”
The influential series went from breakout sci-fi favourite to massive international hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, has earned 16 Emmy® Awards, five Golden Globes® and a Peabody Award.
