DD allows film production houses to take part in e-auction of slots

In a bid to encourage more participation in the e-auction of its primetime slots, Doordarshan has eased some of the norms.

In a major move, Doordarshan has allowed the participation of film production houses in the e-auction process, whereas earlier only those who had experience producing content for television were allowed to bid.

Along with this, now regional production houses bringing out content in languages other than Hindi can also take part in the bid process.

Moreover, the revenue criterion has also been relaxed. The bidding company should have posted annual revenue of at least Rs 3 crore in each of the past three fiscals as opposed to the earlier condition of Rs 5 crore.

The applicant must have produced at least 200 hours of content in the previous three calendar years as opposed to the earlier condition of 300 hours.
