FedEx Cares Campaign Celebrated Across 34 Cities in India

FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, recently concluded the FedEx Cares campaign, a program designed to benefit local communities. Over 1,700 FedEx team members across 34 cities in India were involved in community outreach activities, clocking more than 5,000 hours of volunteer work.

FedEx Cares is an annual global volunteering program where FedEx team members and their families donate their personal time and effort in giving back to their local communities.  In its fifth consecutive year in India, FedEx team members participated in various activities focused on the environment and community.

“FedEx Cares demonstrates our continued dedication and contribution towards our local communities.  Team members are passionate about making a difference and the FedEx Cares campaign gives them the opportunity to do that by volunteering in a range of locally organized initiatives. The campaign has grown from 5 cities in 2011 to 34 cities across India this year. We continue to remain committed towards serving communities by encouraging active participation from team members,” said David Ross, regional president, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa (MEISA), FedEx Express.

FedEx volunteers contributed to a number of projects across India:

·         Organized and participated in blood donation drives

·         Visited orphanages and spent time with children

·         Initiated tree planting and cleanliness drive

·         Donated essential commodities, books and stationary items

FedEx Cares in India complements the volunteer activities taking place globally. Over the past 11 years, the campaign has expanded to nearly 400 cities around the world.  In addition to thousands of volunteer hours invested each year, FedEx donated more than $45 million globally in 2014.  During the recent Chennai floods, FedEx team members came forward to support with disaster relief efforts. FedEx also worked with an international relief organization and utilized its global logistics network to support people in need by providing critical relief supplies and services to communities impacted by this disaster.
