Greek film industry not giving in to financial crisis

The financial crisis in Greece has dented the film industry there, but Greeks haven’t given up says Maria D’Souza, a Greek film maker who is attending the 44th Edition of the International Film Festival of India.

D’Souza, along with another film personality Zaferis Epaminodas were speaking to the audience during the chai and chat session’s organsied by the festival organisers. The subject of the event was contemporary Greek cinema.

“Contemporary Greek cinema is diversity against adversity. We don’t have a film industry as of such as the 70’s. The crisis has made it a little worse, but even under such circumstances, we are working it out,” D’Souza explained.

Epaminodas said that the response to the contemporary Greek films screened at IFFI was great.
“The audience is hungry to see the insights of Greek film making. We are trying to promote and showcase it the best way we can,” Epaminodas said.
