IPL 8 sees a 42% rise in ratings

After much speculation of the 'ratings dark period' during the IPL, the ice has been broken. TAM has been doing what it has to even though agencies and broadcasters have not renewed or unsubscribed to their subscription. Here is a glimpse of the ratings of IPL season eight as per TAM data.

Five matches of IPL 8 garnered 4.5% Average TVR which was 42% more compared to its previous edition. Time Spent by Viewers per match was 51 Minutes and 44 Seconds; which is 22% more compared to IPL 7. 5 matches of IPL 8 were sampled by 105 million unique viewers. 39% of the All India Universe tuned to watch IPL 8 matches. Avg. TVTs showed a growth of 43% for IPL 8 compared to IPL 7.

The opening ceremony saw a 0.94 TVR. The first match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 8 saw a viewership of 5.4 TVR. The next match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils on April 9 saw a viewership of 4.7 TVR. On April 10, the match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab saw a viewership of 4.5 TVR.

On April 11, there were two matches one between Chennai Super Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad which saw a viewership of 2.4 TVR and the other one between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore which saw a viewership of 5.3 TVR.
