Life OK bets big on Laut Aao Trisha

Following the channel’s philosophy of differentiation, Life OK launches Laut Aao Trisha, a bold new show by the channel which explores facet of fragile relationships and vulnerable people. With this show the channel brings to the fore topics which have never found a standing in the general entertainment space.

Commenting on the launch, Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK said “We have always been conscious of presenting socially relevant stories and Laut Aao Trisha is one such show, which, with its bold content, borders on thrill, suspense, family drama and touches upon the concept of in-family crimes. We want to present stories without being judgmental.”

The show is an adaptation of acclaimed Spanish Telenovela ‘Dónde está Elisa?’  And the series revolves around the quest of a mother in search of her missing daughter. Thakur further explained, “The show is based on three things – Firstly, it is a different concept unlike the shows we’ve done in past in terms of themes and issues; Secondly, it revolves around strong social issue (about a mother’s quest to find her lost daughter) and thirdly the pool of writers.”

The channel has got official rights for the show and takes a shocking plunge into the lives of the rich and famous and bringing alive a story that is bold and thrilling. The show will also touch upon some issues that plague the society in a manner that is sensitive yet thought provoking.

This is not the first time Life OK is experimenting with an international adapted format; earlier also the channel has done Bachelorette and Welcome. On asking Thakur how the show is been formatted according to the Indian taste. He said, “In fiction it’s the second show that we’ve have adapted as before this we have experimented with the Korean telenovela ‘Smile Please’ as ‘Zindagi Kahe Smile Please’ in 2011-12. Also with Laut Aao Trisha we’ve toned down the boldness a bit as per Indian standards in comparison to the Spanish series.”

Laut Aao Trisha is a story about the journey of the rich and famous Swaika family who realize that their lives have fallen apart with the sudden disappearance of Trisha, the show will also touch upon the concept of in-family crimes that often remain hidden behind closed doors.

The show has managed to bag good ratings in last few weeks and have experimented with different genres in past. On which Thakur shared, “I think what the channel is yet to achieve is the No.1 position. This year has been momentous for Life OK, not only have we grown strength to strength but we have also successfully managed to challenge the status quo of the industry by presenting content in a different light. Being the youngest channel we’ve achieved the position today which quite encouraging though and that too without doing any of the saas- bahu sagas and have received good response from the actors, producers and advertisers.”

Life OK has worked on the genres like mythological, fantasy, love-story to crime and now bringing a   new genre of social thriller that the channel started with Saubhagyavati Bhava. The show was initially to be launched on Star Plus as ‘Missing’ and later was taken over by Life OK.

“The show is going to be a finite series of 250 episodes and will air for 30 minutes for a period of about 11-12 months. This show is more expensive than the other shows done in past, right from cast to production, opening sequence of the show is been shot in Goa and the show is based in Mumbai.” Added, Thakur.

The show is been produced by 24 Frames’ Nandita Mehra and Bhairavi Raichura, along with BP Singh’s Fireworks Productions.  The show has Bhagyashree Patwardhan as Amrita Swaika(mother), television’s popular names Jai Kalra, Rajeshwari Badola and Eijaz Khan who’ll will be seen as Prateek Swaika, Lavanya Garewal and ACP Kabir respectively with others.

B.P. Singh, Fireworks Productions said, “We are positive about this show and I am sure that the show will set a different landmark in the television space.”

“We’ve worked on this concept for more than two years, other countries too had adapted this show and has been a successful one there too hence we are hoping the same in India too. The show will connect everyone one from rural to urban as the mother daughter bond remains the same let it be an upper middle class family or a middle class family. Along with production I’ll be doing a small role in the show where I’ll become ACP Kabir’s (Eijaz Khan) doctor,” shared, Bhairavi Raichura, Actor and Producer, 24 Frames’.

The show targets male and female audience 15+ and will target all the market but set up wise is bit urban. The show will replace Welcome 2 slot, channel wants to market this show highly on digital along with television and outdoor media.

The channel will go for fresh look as a part of packaging in next three months but the channel is very confident about its upcoming show line up. “Life OK is on launch mode as post Laut Aao Trisha, we’ll be launching four more fictional shows and the next one is from Ekta’s Balaji Productions.” Catch the bold drama unfold starting 21st July, every Monday to Friday at 10 PM on Life OK.
