Life OK's Ajit Thakur to take Channel V's responsibility

It is now confirmed that Ajit Thakur who currently heads Star India’s second general entertainment channel Life OK will now looking after the network’s youth channel – Channel V.

Senior sources closed to development confirming the news said, “Along with performing his duties as the General Manager at Life OK, Thakur will now handle additional responsibility and will be in-charge of Star's youth channel - Channel V”.

This move comes as a result of the position left vacant by Prem Kamath who held the position of EVP and Business Head for Channel V and Star Pravah announcing his exit in June 2014. Sources also confirm that Kamath is set to join A+E Networks in a senior position for the Asia-Pacific operations of the company, moving base to Singapore in August 2014.

While Thakur is said to manage Channel V, sources however are uncertain of the position to be filled in at Star Pravah.

Thakur joined Star Network in 2011 and played an important role in bringing together and establishing Life OK as the second GEC from the national broadcaster. It may be marked that in short span of time, the channel has grown to be ranked in the top 6 GEC of India. Thakur is an IIM graduate from Lucknow and started his professional journey as Brand Manager, Coco- Cola. He later joined Unilever as Global Brand Director. He has also worked with UTV Television as COO, Balaji Motion Pictures, Business Head at Canal Sony Brasil. Before joining Star Network in 2011 he was part of SET.
