Litomania: The October Literature begins with a grand opening

The October Fest called Litomania has begun on the 11th September in WeSchool, Mumbai. The initiative by Think Why Not has for largest literature festival will be focusing on ‘Indian’ and ‘Popular’ Literature.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sangram Surve – CEO Think Why Not Group & Festival Director of Litomania, Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe – Group Director, Welingkar Institute of Management & Research along with Indian best-selling authors like Amish Tripathi, Ravi Subramanian, Ashwin Sanghi and Sivaraman Balakrishnan.

The festival was a delightful affair as it begun with an interesting panel discussion on ‘What Is India Reading?’ by best-selling authors Amish Tripathi, Ashwin Sanghi, Ravi Subramanian and Ravinder Sigh. Another session by Preeti Vyas, Anusha Subramanian, Payal Kapadia coined the topic on The search for the Desi Harry Potter. Sanjeev Kapoor, Pooja Dhingra and Shipra Khanna conducted an interactive culinary session on India’s obsession with gastronomy.  For the first time, Ogle subscribers across India and the globe viewed the live discussions, debates, workshops of the litfest. Also, exclusive to Ogle, there were live interactions with select authors that took place.

Litomania-on-wheels: India’s biggest romance author, Ravinder Singh boarded the Litomania on wheels – a vintage bus that traveled from Juhu to Matunga. He enthralled his fans by reading a chapter from his unreleased book and revealed a few characters.

The Litomania Gift-a-Book Art Challenge saw an amazing response from book enthusiast who have started donating books to complete the art. People who wish to donate books can partner with artist Santosh More and complete the book challenge.

Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe – Group Director, Welingkar Institute of Management & Research explains. “Teaching through theatre, literature, poems, films, and book reviews has been a popular medium to connect with students to teach several management & leadership principles which makes learning more experiential and fun. B-schools and companies have realized how theatre-kind of training can develop various attributes among individuals and can determine group dynamics. At WeSchool we are going one step further by integrating theatre and literature (particularly fiction) through the October Literature fest - Litomania. While students engage in story-telling, they also were guided to delve on the dilemmas in the stories that involve ethics, change management, adversity management etc.”

Amish Tripathi delighted at the fest says, “I am a proud Indian. Even though we follow Britain English, the dialect and ways of speaking is Indianized. This is our own culture. I have an emotional connect to Litomania as it celebrates the charm of Indian literature. The festival is a great platform to speak on the rooted Indian culture and know more on what is India interested in reading.”
