LocalBanya gets Amit Bhartiya as mentor!

LocalBanya, the online convenience store is Mumbai’s most successful company in the online groceries category. Funded by Springboard (a BCCL venture) and the Karamvir Avant Group, the two-year old LocalBanya today counts thousands of customers across Mumbai. The Company has taken a unique approach to speed ahead with its plan to scale and get more efficient: mentoring. The executive leadership team at LocalBanya has appointed Amit Bhartiya as its Mentor and Advisor.

Amit Bhartiya has been a digital industry veteran for the last 15 years and was last seen at Komli Media where he was MD – Komli Mobile. Amit Bhartiya has also previous spent 8 years at Baazee & eBay and was on a sabbatical since his exit from Komli in August 2013.

“Ecommerce, digital advertising & marketing across screens as well as scalability are strengths that sum up Amit’s wide experience. He brings in a high-degree of maturity and knowledge in the areas of marketing, customer acquisition, loyalty initiatives and problem-solving in the areas of logistics and operations. He is a well-rounded professional and his approach to people and processes has been immensely valuable in our journey of building a world-class and profitable business. His flexibility and being fun to work with brings about additional vibrancy to our workplace,” states Rashi Choudhary, co-founder and COO of LocalBanya.

One of the biggest challenges for start-ups is that while the founders bring in varied and versatile experience sets across domains that are needed to scale the start-up, their budgets and profile don’t always allow them to hire professionals who bring in a great deal of experience in areas such as hiring the right talent, adapting processes to local needs and the ability to tailor communication to its target audiences. By bringing on a mentor on a part-time basis, the start-ups get equipped to overcome these challenges as well as can financially afford to reign in this kind of talent and experience within the organization. This is exactly the mantra adopted by LocalBanya as well.

Amit Bhartiya, who has now spent some time at LocalBanya, comments,”LocalBanya is a spirited start-up where I see high-energy and passionate founders trying to solve highly complicated challenges within the logistics domain to deliver a fantastic customer experience within the newly created category of online grocery shopping. My involvement allows the founders to deeply focus on innovative use of technology and operational excellence to solve these challenges while I bring about the much-needed support in hiring, customer acquisition and retention, procurement and thinking about long-term profitability and scalability. I see tremendous potential of this becoming a highly valuable business.”
