After having a stint of two successful years as the Director of Cafe Coffee Day, Alok Gupta has decided to move on.

Speculation is rife about his joining another power house where his expertise will be put to good use. An industry insider confirmed the news to Adgully, though no official statement was provided.

Prior to Joining Cafe Coffee Day Gupta was associated with Vijay Mallya’s United Breweries. In the two years of his tenure he contributed in many ways to expand the reach
of the coffee chain. He helped build the back of mind recall and visibility for the

coffee chain by drastically increasing the number of outlets. In the
initial stages of his reign CCD had also announced the Rs 150 crore
expansions to increase the number of outlets to an ambitious 1000
across the nation.

The brand saw drastic repositioning too, Gupta and his team tried to
explore the market for the retail chain besides just a coffee and
youth hangout place. Early this year CCD had announced the revamping
of its logo and of 1,000 CCD Express joints on franchise agreement.
Gupta at this point had announced to have around 2,000 outlets by the
end of 2015.
