The Board of Control for Cricket in India is giving a Rs 2 bn makeover to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This stadium will host the 2011 World Cup final.

The first match of cricket’s showpiece event will be a grudge match. India and Bangladesh clash in the opener on 19 February at Dhaka.

The first match that India will host will see four time champions Australia take on Zimbabwe in Ahmedabad on 21 February. Pakistan does not play a league match in India.

The match is scheduled for April 2 2011 and the BCCI is already in talks with the government regarding visa permissions for foreign visitors.
