Media houses, agencies can avail IRS 2013 data: Bombay HC

Now as per the new ruling by the Bombay High Court on May 8 2014, media houses and agencies are free to avail the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2013 data in connection with their marketing and media planning purposes.

This move from the Court comes post a petition filed by HT Media Limited (HTML)  challenging the decision taken by the RSCI and Media Research Users Council (MRUC) which stipulated that the IRS 2013  data be kept in abeyance till completion of a third party audit of the survey results.

Several media companies had of late complained about the quality of the study and requested withdrawal of data citing flawed methodology of the same.

The MRUC’s plea which disallowed data to be used by subscribers till completion of a third party audit has now been rejected by the Bombay High Court.
