Medulla bags 3 Golds at Clio Health Awards 2016
Although traditional healthcare advertising once focused on the structured world of pharmaceutical drugs, the industry is shifting to embrace overall health and wellness, welcoming a new world of innovative and inspiring creative work. With this thought, winners of Clio Health Awards 2016 were announced on December 5. India’s Medulla Communications bagged a total of seven metals, which included three Gold, two Silver and two Bronze metals. The healthcare communications agency also had one shortlist.
While Medulla Communications dominated the winners list among three shortlisted agencies from India, Bydesigner – IMC bagged the Gold for Harmony’s ‘Wearable device for autistic children’ campaign, which was followed by McCann Health, New Delhi, winning a Bronze for United Diabetes Forum’s (UDF) ‘The blue dot’ campaign.
Praful Akali and Amit Akali led Medulla Communications won two Gold awards for Zentel’s ‘Slums (housing colonies) for worms’ campaign and the third Gold for Indian Association of Palliative Care’s (IAPC) ‘Last Words’ campaign. While The Last Words campaign won two Silvers and a Bronze, Zentel’s campaign captured a Bronze and shortlist.
Commenting on the wins, Amit Akali, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Medulla, said, “7 metals and 1 shortlist at a creative award like CLIO is a big validation of creative reputation for any agency, not just one focussed on healthcare. A gold at any award show is difficult and winning 3 CLIO Golds is all the more special. What makes it greater is that we sent in just 9 entries. We’re a small agency and what helps us is focus. Even in terms of award shows we’re entering in, we’d taken a call not to enter in the healthcare focussed awards like Rx and Global, where we compete only against healthcare agencies, but instead enter shows which every agency would vie to get into like Cannes, Clios and Oneshows and hopefully win those and win big.”
Praful Akali, Founder and MD, Medulla, connects the awards to Medulla's growth as an agency, “Winning so big at shows with a mainline and creative reputation like Cannes and Clios doesn’t just have a direct co-relation with our creative credentials but also directly reflects in attracting business and talent across the board. Medulla today is an amalgamation of the best talent from healthcare, mainline and marketing with some great planners, art directors, copywriters, etc on board,” he said.
