MIB issues license to ABP Sanjha, Patrika TV Rajasthan & Peace Of Mind

The newly formed government has taken it to its task to not only be vocal about issues in the media industry, but also, take measured actions effective in nature.

Two news channels – Media Content and Communications Services' (MCCS) Punjabi news channel ABP Sanjha and Rajasthan Patrika's Patrika TV Rajasthan have received the green signal from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Along with these aforementioned channels, spiritual and non-news God’s Media’s channel Peace of Mind has also received licenses from the government.

The MIB website stated that while ABP Sanjha is permitted to broadcast news in Punjabi, Patrika TV Rajasthan is allowed to air news in Hindi, English and all other languages. Peace of Mind is also allowed to air content in Hindi, English and all other Indian Scheduled languages.

While Rajasthan Patrika already owns a cable TV channel, this license attainment will mark the setting up the group’s first satellite channel. This also makes the print group one of the newest entrants in TV business.

The other publications in the TV business include ABP Group (ABP Ananda, ABP Majha, ABP News), Dina Thanthi (Thanthi TV) and Gujarat Samachar (GSTV News) and Andhra Jyothi (ABN Andhra Jyothi), Sakshi Group (Sakshi TV) and Sandesh (Sandesh News).

As per the latest 'status of permitted satellite TV channels in India', by MIB, 798 private satellite TV Channels in India have got the permissions. Of these, 397 are news and current affairs channels as 401 are non-news and current affairs channels.
