Naqvi bids adieu to India TV!

In an unforeseen move in the broadcast news industry, Q. W. Naqvi, Senior Journalist and Editorial Director at India TV has resigned from his position.

In an official statement sent to Adgully, India TV has confirmed the news. Ritu Dhawan, MD and CEO, India TV said, "We have accepted his resignation and asked Naqvi to serve his notice period of 3 months. We are surprised at the reasons being attributed to it in the social media. Such reasons are baseless, and we condemn the effort being made to use it for political gains."

Rajat Sharma, India TV Chairman said, "There is a continuous attempt by some people to defame electronic media which has been officially condemned by Broadcasters. We in the news media have covered several elections in the past and will cover many more, we cannot allow our industry to become a tool in the hands of interested parties during elections."

Naqvi started his career in 1980 as Trainee Journalist (Hindi) with Navbharat Times of The Times of India Group. He then joined the now defunct Hindi weekly magazine ‘Ravivar’, brought out by the ABP Group, as Chief Reporter. Naqvi was part of the team that started the Hindi weekly broadsheet ‘Chauthi Duniya’.

After Chauthi Duniya, Naqvi joined ‘Aaj Tak’ when it was a 20-minute news programme airing on DD Metro in the 90s but left the organisation before Aaj Tak turned into a 24-hour news channel. He returned to Aaj Tak as News Director in 2003 when Uday Shankar, then News Director, TV Today, moved on to launch Star News.
