RBS announces Brijesh Mehra as Country Executive India

The Royal Bank of Scotland N.V. (RBS) announced the appointment of Brijesh Mehra as the Country Executive for India.

Mehra is currently the Head of International Banking for India and South East Asia. As Country Executive for India, in addition to overseeing the bank’s risk and governance framework, he will assume overall management oversight for all the businesses of the bank in the country. He will also chair the India MANCO and the India Client Board. Further, he will continue as the Head of the India Coverage business of the newly formed Corporate and Institutional Banking Division (the erstwhile Markets and International Banking arm), which includes Debt Financing, Transaction Services and Risk Management.

Mehra takes over the role with immediate effect. In his role as the Coverage Head for India, he will report into Sanjeev Kumar, Head of Coverage, Asia Pacific. He will also report into Richard Place, Head of Transition & Network APAC for in-country governance and controls.

Commenting on his appointment, Pierre Ferland, Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking, Asia Pacific, said: “I am delighted to confirm Brijesh’s appointment as the Country Executive for India. He has been with the bank for over 20 years and has not only enriched the bank with his core strengths in banking and client relationship management, but has also contributed immensely to the growth of the India franchise. I truly believe that in the new role, Brijesh will further add value to the firm, and enable enhanced customer focus through better control and governance over both the front and back office. His appointment also reinforces RBS’s continued commitment to our India franchise and to our business across our 10-country network in the Asia Pacific.”

Mehra has over 25 years of wholesale banking experience across corporate finance, debt and structured debt and transaction banking. Under his leadership, the RBS in India has consistently ranked top 5 across Debt Capital Markets and has won several industry awards. He joined ABN AMRO in 1991 and has worked in India, Indonesia and Singapore in various corporate, investment banking and management roles.
