Spirit W | Women are more sincere and focused: VivaKi's Anita Bose

"Now I see a lot of women in the media industry, but when I started off I remember of times when I would be the only woman in an entire meeting at a senior-level," says, Anita Bose, Senior Vice-President, VivaKi Exchange.

Bose has seen the industry evolve over the years and shares her journey with us for our section that celebrates women in creative and media world- Spirit W.

Talking about how she began her career, Bose says, "I passed out from Indian Institute of Mass Communication in 1993. P. V. Narayanamoorthy was one of my professors at the institute and he motivated me to join media. I started my career with McCann Erickson and later in just two years I moved on to Contract Advertising. As a natural progression I later moved to Group M then and later moved into MEC. After a successful span at MEC I moved to VivaKi Exchange in March this year."

Initially she started working with electronics and durable business, so she remembers working for the brand Kelvinator very vividly, and then as the brand progressively changed into the brand name Whirlpool. "

Bose derives inspiration from female leaders like Mona Jain and Shubha George and says that its Jain's focused approach and George's calmness when under pressure is what has inspired her the most.

So do women have an edge over men in media?

While signing off she adds, "Monies are getting squeezed, so the big question is where do we spend it appropriately? Moreover I think the quality of professionals coming into media is declining. So the industry collectively has to do something to attract the right talent." | By Prabha Hegde [prabha(at)adgully.com]
