Star Plus out to celebrate Bollywood music with ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’

Star Plus is beefing up its non-fiction offering with a new singing reality show – ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’. The show will celebrate the popularity of Bollywood music through talents from across the globe, from different cultures and nationalities. Though the launch date and telecast details have not been revealed, the show is slated to go on air early next year.

The talent on the show will be judged by an expert panel of jury consisting of director Karan Johar, who travelled the globe to handpick singers for the show; rapper Badshah, who will be seen making a debut as a judge on television; Shekhar Ravjiani and Shalmali Kholgade.

‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ will showcase not just solo, but also duet and group performances consisting of bands, choirs, acapella; a first of its kind on Indian television.

Karan Johar commented, “I am thrilled to be associated with and have an opportunity to curate performances based on talent from across the globe. It is rare to find a platform which takes Bollywood to the centre stage, and with ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’, we are ready to entertain the world with extraordinary performances.”

Badshah added here, “It requires real talent to match up to the standards set by the Indian singers, given the variety of music produced in our industry. As we look to bring in the best performers from across the globe, we are looking to ensure the talents on board are not only good singers, but great entertainers, who would enthral the audience through their performance while we focus the limelight upon them.”

Shekhar Ravjiani remarked, “‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ is one of the most exciting concepts I have come across on small screen. Judging a talent show is not a new phenomenon for me, but the idea of putting performance over talent will be very interesting for us as judges too. We are ready to bring to you some path-breaking entertainment like never before on television.”

Singer Shalmali Kholgade said, “I’m electrified to judge the musical sensations in the making! Given the plethora of talent across the globe, we are expecting an overwhelming response in our search to find our final performers who will reach the stage of ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’.”
