The show initially started in Hindi soon found takers in Marathi. Since then the show has been hosted by Pallavi Joshi, Shaan, but the class and the talent that it showed was unmatchable. The success of the show can be judged from the fact that it produced singers like Shreya Ghoshal.
Though one would argue the fact that over the years the musical shows have become more of commercial rather than producing real talent, but healthy competition leads to best viewership for the audience as well.
Taking part in a reality show is not just about wining but it’s an experience of a lifetime. Contestants come from every part of the country to participate in the show. And these days you also get to have mentors ranging from Asha Bhosle, to Alka Yagnik, Shaan to Himesh Reshmiaya – all pass on their knowledge to the next generation.
Along with voice training and modulation the contestants are also exposed to integrated multi-dimensional wellness systems addressing physical, physiological, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions.
Other aspects, which have become the part and parcel of the show, are health and spiritualism, natural and cosmic nutrition, personal grooming and psychotherapy interspersed with the ideologies and philosophies in order to make the contestants mentally tougher.
These days when the competition pressure gets onto the contestants, and with more and more shows getting sms-based, the mental toughness of the contestants is often put to test.
A singing superstar is not just about the music but also about the overall persona attached with the singer. A superstar has to enthrall the audience till the end of his performance.
Channels too have got smart to get the TRPs. Things have changed in a decade’s time and so has the format. Remember seeing an 11-year-old Sunidhi Chauhan winning the Meri Aawaz Suno title? At that time there was no sms-system. In fact she won the title on pure merit and at that time things such as looking good on camera and all were redundant.

And with the stars descending on the small-screen, there is no reason, why one wouldn’t watch the programmes with utmost interest and continue to vote for their favourite contestants.
With the musical shows for almost all age groups shows that the so-called reality shows have become more of a money-spinner and along with smart packaging, it also has the audience glued to their sets.
Things are only going to change in the coming years and advertisers and channels will try and find new ways and techniques to keep the TRPs going and mint more money.

it is a welcome feture now a days that so many reality shows and competetions are mountin up day bay day and so many sponsorers are offiering good amonts of gifts and prize money to the aspiring contestants.this was not prevalant during the days of md raffi saab, kishorekumar, mukesh, lata, asha etc who have specialised in their own way.today we have plenty of talented singers in the country and some of them are getting good no of chances.as reqards sms system,i feel it is not the correct way of selecting the calibre of the artiste.highly qualified and experienced who are well versed with classical music should be the judges.and their,s judgement should be the final
