YES FOUNDATION Social Impact Award launched at Jio MAMI - Mumbai Film Festival

YES FOUNDATION in partnership with Jio MAMI – Mumbai Film Festival has instituted the ‘YES FOUNDATION Social Impact Award’ worth INR 10 lakhs, to recognise a film that best highlights a social cause with the potential to transform social mindset. The award aims to encourage professional filmmakers to address social issues and drive responsible citizenship through films.

Mr. Rana Kapoor, Chief Mentor, YES FOUNDATION said, “We firmly believe in the tremendous power of the media as a positive force of social change. Media is an amplifier that can transform mindsets and trigger great social action, to fuel India’s social transformation.”

Ms.  Kiran Rao, Chairperson, Jio MAMI- Mumbai Film Festival adds, “Cinema is a powerful medium and the YES FOUNDATION Social Impact Award will act as a catalyst to enhance socially relevant films.”

Speaking at the launch, Ms. Prerana Langa, CEO, YES FOUNDATION said, “Films have the potential to accelerate India’s inclusive development and we are delighted to partner with Jio MAMI- Mumbai Film Festival to promote socially responsible cinema in India.  Through the ‘YES FOUNDATION Social Impact Award’ , we aim to bring ‘social’ into ‘mainstream’. The award aims at creating a new mindset in professional filmmakers to make more socially relevant films, touch millions of lives and mobilise social action.”

YES FOUNDATION has been consistently striving to nurture and expand the ecosystem for social filmmakers through its flagship program, YES! i am the CHANGE (YIAC). In 2015, YIAC emerged as the World’s Largest Social Film Movement with participation of over 5 lakh youth pan-India.
