High voltage music, rib tickling humour and of course, some power-packed dance performances, is what the audiences will get to witness this weekend as the cast of the upcoming film ‘Singh is Bling’ - Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson and Prabhu Deva visited the sets of ZEE TV’s Dance India Dance 5. The evergreen Khiladi was seen sitting amongst the young contestants and having a blast. He even waltzed on stage with Master Gaiti on his 80’s chartbuster ‘Churake Dil Mera’.

Actor Choreographer Prabhudeva and Master Punit J Pathak go back a long way and have worked together in films like ABCD and its sequel.  Not many know that the first time Prabhudeva saw Master Punit dance was on Season 2 of DID when he performed as a contestant. Since then, Prabhudeva has greatly admired his dancing ability and style. On his most recent visit to the sets of DID Season 5, the acts put up by the contestants from his team ‘Punit Ke Panthers’ compelled Prabhudeva to acknowledge Master Punit as an ace choreographer and conceptualizer. Sally and Pronita from Punit Ke Panthers wowed audiences with a slow, romantic and sensuous performance to the song ‘Lag ja gale’ and moved impeccably to the music. Their contemporary act got them a standing ovation from the guests and the Grandmaster. Then came another duo act from his team with Ashish and Pankaj performing to the song ‘mere nishan’ from the film ‘Oh My God!’,  depicting the relationship of God and man. Through challenging lifts and flips, fine expressions and body language, the act conveyed strong emotions and brought out the frustration one goes through in his daily life and how we blame God for everything wrong that happens in life. The message and its beautiful execution compelled the celebrity guests to give the dancers and Punit a standing ovation. Superstar Akshay Kumar complimented Master Punit saying, ‘You managed to show my entire film in just a three minute act! I salute you Punit for not just your thought behind such concepts but also your exceptional choreography’. While Akshay was visibly impressed, the icing on the cake was when Punit’s mentor Prabhudeva stood up after the act to applaud his protégé’s choreography. He said that he always knew that Master Punit was an exceptional dancer but he, through the performances in this season of  DID, has proved that he is an outstanding choreographer as well.  The two then shook a leg together on the song ‘Happy hour mein’.

Other performances that stood out were Sahil and Nirmal’s act on the song ‘Mujh main tu’ and Kausik and Anuradha’s act on ‘from Chandani Chowk to China’. Actor Akshay Kumar even took up the challenge of doing a handstand with contestants Sahil and Nirmal and won it hands down, quite literally! Akshay and Prabhu Deva even managed to get the masters to dance on the song ‘Chu Chan’ from their film!
