2010 bring confidence to Indian consumers

As the world is recovering from the global meltdown, consumers are also gaining soem confidence to splurge.

According to a survey by Nielsen India is one of the Top 10 most optimistic markets about job prospects in 2010. 83 per cent of people are optimistic about job prospects, out of which 17 per cent think it will become 'excellent' in the year to come, while 66 per cent think that it will be 'good' in the next 12 months.

As per the study, India has grabbed the second position, with 117 index points behind Indonesia (119 points) in terms of consumer confidence level.

The survey was conducted among 17,500 Internet users in 29 markets across the world to track the confidence of consumers, their major concerns and spending habits.

But at the same time, the study also highlights tha fact that the increasing food prices is the biggest concern on Indians's minds. And job security follows food. And it also shows that finally Indians are also thinking about global warming as the percentage of people concerned about global warming has increased from 3 per cent to 10 per cent.
