2017 in Review: Forwarding the cause of sustainable mobility in India: Jerome Saigot

Jerome Saigot, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, shares his insights on the key developments in the automobile industry in India in 2017, as well as how Nissan performed in the country during the year. Annus mirabilis is how he terms the year 2017 as.

2017 has been an exciting year, not just for the automobile industry but for the whole country. This year saw implementation of GST, which is a milestone tax reform, stimulating demand and strengthening the automotive market. The Indian Government has also laid an ambitious aim of making the country 100 per cent electric by 2030. We are actively working with the Government, stakeholders and offering our advice and experience to support the vision of sustainable mobility in India.

In 2017, we also launched a host of refreshed and new products to cater to the growing demands of car users. Recently, we launched, the Nissan Micra Fashion Edition in a first of its kind car in India, inspired by the design philosophy of fashion brand – Benetton. We also launched the Terrano, which has 22 brand new features that makes the drive more comfortable, convenient and pleasurable. On the Datsun front, we launched Datsun Redi-GO 1.0L that has received a great response from customers.

Additionally, our focused customer outreach across platforms – be it traditional or digital – has helped us increase the brand reach enormously. For example, #VoteForChange, an innovative and light-hearted brand campaign for Datsun, has also benefitted brand Datsun and increased interest and footfalls at the Nissan and Datsun dealerships across India.

Overall, it was an exciting year for us. Our verdict – annus mirabilis!
