2019 Lok Sabha Polls top most watched news in Week 3: Chrome DM study

The ‘2019 Lok Sabha Elections’ is the most aired news in Week 3 (January 12 - 18, 2019), followed by ‘Kumbh Mela’. The news about the ‘Kanhaiya Kumar controversy’ is placed third, while ‘Ram Mandir’ and ‘Swarna Arakshan’ are in the 4th and 5th positions, respectively. This was revealed by Chrome News Content Consumption, a study on News Content aired across India carried out by Chrome Data Analytics and Media. 

The survey conducted is an outcome of the data collected from 34,000 Chrome DM panel homes across India. It analyses the effectiveness of the News aired on television every week and categorises it through three broad segments – namely, Most Aired, Most Watched and Most Discussed. 

Most Watched News in Week 3 

The survey also unveils that ‘2019 Lok Sabha Elections’ is the most watched news of the week grabbing maximum eyeballs, followed by ‘Kumbh Mela’. The news about ‘Kanhaiya Kumar Controversy’, ‘Swarna Arakshan’ and ‘Ram Mandir’ also generated interests amongst viewers and are placed 3rd, 4th and 5th, respectively, in the list. 

Most Discussed News in Week 3 

As per the Most Discussed News category of the survey, the news about ‘2019 Lok Sabha Elections’ has been the talk of the nation, making it the most discussed news, whereas ‘Swarna Arakshan’ is the second most discussed news as per the survey. ‘Ram Mandir’ became the 3rd most discussed news among the masses. ‘Kumbh Mela’ and ‘Mehbooba Mufti’s Sympathy for Terrorists’ are placed 4th and 5th, respectively, in the list.
