33 years of action drama ‘Hero’ on 16th December at 3:30 PM

He was a brawny street-smart strolling around the streets of Mumbai in the 80’s until Subhash Ghai spotted him and a star was born. Released in 1983, ‘Hero’ marked the debut of the quintessential Jackie Shroff along with Meenakshi Sheshadri. A story of two rebels in love, Hero is one of Hindi cinema’s classic that elevated its lead actors to super stardom overnight.Zee Classic, with its brand promise of Woh Zamana Kare Deewana celebrates 33 years of this action drama on Friday, 16th December at 3:30 PM.

Hero, upon its release won applauds from critics and audience alike. The popularity of Hero was such that the film recently got remade with a fresh cast and its signature tune was used by Jackie Shroff’s son himself in his debut venture 

Directed by Subhash Ghai, ‘Hero’ dwells around Jackie (Jackie Shroff), a goon who abducts Radha (Meenakshi), his rival Shrikanth’s (Shammi Kapoor) daughter to free his master Pasha(Amrish Puri) from prison. Love blossoms between the two and Jackie decides to surrender. On his return after two years, he tries to be a reformed man. But Pasha who yearns revenge against both Shrikanth and Jackie, kidnaps Radha. Now, it’s up to Jackie to get his love back from the clutches of the nemesis.
