5th Jagran Film Festival to screen an eclectic mix of Cypriot Cinema

Jagran Film Festival has reached its last leg and concludes in Mumbai from 22nd September, 2014 to 28th September, 2014 at PVR Cinemas, Andheri and Cinemax, Versova. The festival presents an exciting line up of films in diverse genres from every corner of the world. The fifth edition of Jagran Film Festival under the category ‘Country Focus’ will screen an eclectic mix of ‘Cypriot Cinema’ during the festival.

Cyprus is a European country and a part of European Union. In spite being a small island it has produced some remarkable movies. Cypriot cinema started in late 1950’s and has being growing since then. They started producing feature length films in late 1960’s and 1970’s and saw a richer crop of films. The integration with EU helped boost and produce distinctive cinema. Though people don’t know much about Cyprus cinema, it has produced astounding movies which have won accolades and been nominated in various categories at renowned film festivals.

5th Jagran Film Festival, 2014 brings to its audience a diverse collection of Cypriot cinema and attempts to promote the rich cinema of the country. The movies going to be screened under the category country focus are Block 12 by director Kyriacos Tofarides, Joy and sorrow of the body by director Andreas Pantzis, Kalabush by director Adonis Floridis and Theodoros Nikolaidis and Fish n chips by director Elias Demetriou.

​The festival promises to be bigger and better this edition with both size and power over the years.
