A fight to reawaken the core values - Kunjo Chaya
Star Jalsha is known to be a treasure trove of stories that are both unique and entertaining. These stories have evoked emotions of joy, hope and mirth amongst the viewers. As a harbinger of change, Jalsha has always striven to inculcate culture and uphold values through its shows and characters. Taking this philosophy forward, Jalsha is all geared up to impress upon the importance of family values and traditions with Kunjo Chaya.
In the pursuit of individual goals and ambitions, we often tend to stray away from our family values. We seldom forget that values are the thread which connects us to our roots, they lay the foundation to a happy and prosperous family.
Adding yet another feather to its visual splendor, Star’s latest endeavor is an effort to revive and rediscover the fundamental ethics of a family. Kunjo Chaya is a story of Subhash Sanyal (Dadu), an idealist teacher in a village far away from his family, who live in the city. Subhash helps in shaping lives of young villagers with his principles and moral values. Although he stays away from his family, he is proud of his kin because he believes, every member follows the values taught by him. His illusion is broken when post retirement, he comes to Kolkata only to discover that home is not what he had imagined it to be. The story progresses when Dadu, with the help of a bubbly girl Shalik, who travels with him from the village, attempts to instill the values once again in his family.
Kunjo Chaya is an attempt to rekindle the spirit of family ties and values in a dysfunctional family whose members have seemingly progressed in life but have forgotten their core values.
The show is produced by Tent Cinemas, which has delivered an array of mega shows like Ke Apon Ke Por, Pratidan and Bijoyini. Renowned Actor Shankar Chakraborty will be seen portraying the part of ‘Subhash Sanyal’ along with the talented Actress Pallabi Dey who will be seen as ‘Shalik’ and the versatile Actor Somraj Maity who will be seen as ‘Ishaan’, in the show.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Susanta Das, Producer, Kunjo Chaya said, “Our association with Star Jalsha has been a long and fruitful one. Together, we have showcased some of the biggest hits on Bengali television. Shows like Ke Apon Ke Por and Pratidan have not only won the viewer’s heart but also created a niche for themselves in the industry. Our new endeavor 'Kunjo Chaya' is an extremely unique and special show. It is our effort to revive and rediscover the fundamental ethics of a family which seem almost forgotten in today's day. It will depict the journey of our protagonists who take the onus to inculcate and instill the true meaning of family in the Sanyal household. Along with this, we will see a reflection of today’s society and the challenges faced by the elderly."
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sagnik Ghosh, EVP & Channel Head, Star Jalsha & Jalsha Movies said, “Star Jalsha believes in introducing shows which strive to be a catalyst of change. In today’s world where family structures are breaking and often values are overlooked, it is important for us to present a show like Kunjo Chaya to our viewers. Kunjo Chaya will not just remind viewers about the importance of values in our lives, but also hold up a mirror to the society where we deal with today’s problems of ageing, security and acceptability of the older generation.”
Kunjo Chaya will be telecast from 26th August, Mon-Fri, 9pm, only on Star Jalsha SD and Star Jalsha HD.
