Aakash and BYJU’S celebrate the second anniversary of their partnership

Aakash and BYJU’S, two of India’s leading education companies, celebrate the second anniversary of their partnership this month. Over the past two years, the partnership has created one of India’s largest education companies, offering students a digitally enabled, omni-channel learning platform backed by world-class pedagogy.

Since the acquisition in 2021, Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL) has witnessed tremendous growth, with both revenue and profits tripling during the period. The company has opened 115 new centres, bringing the total number of centres to 320.  With over 5,700 teachers and 400,000+ currently enrolled students, AESL has established an unassailable market position and brand value over the last 33 years.

The partnership with BYJU’S has significantly contributed to establishing and growing AESL’s digital footprint. Hybrid learning has become the new model of education, and AESL classrooms now feature BYJU’S digital expertise, such as smart boards and digital learning content. This highly synergistic partnership between Aakash’s pedagogy expertise in the test-prep segment with BYJU’S content and tech capabilities is delivering long-term value to students, employees, investors, and other stakeholders.

Commenting on the occasion, Abhishek Maheshwari, the CEO of AESL, said, “Thanks to our partnership with BYJU’S, AESL has been able to add a lot of digital muscle, enabling us to go deeper into the Indian market. Today, technology is at the core of our classroom programs and, with our impeccable pedagogy built over years of research, together we have built a truly Indian brand with global reach. There is still a lot of untapped demand for test prep in India. Keeping that in mind, we are expanding our presence across India’s tier 2, 3, and 4 cities to ensure we are accessible to students across the country.” Maheshwari emphasized that AESL has been growing impressively in scale, revenue, and profitability and yet there is immense scope for massive future growth. “Our brand has been built over three decades, and we are proud to be the leaders in test prep for JEE and NEET coaching. Our market presence is unmatched,” he said.

Meanwhile, Divya Gokulnath, Co-founder of BYJU’S, stated, “An undisputed market leader with world-class pedagogy and a deep understanding of student needs, AESL has proven to be a perfect product fit, business fit, and team fit for BYJU’S over the last two years. Since the acquisition, AESL has registered a 3X growth in revenue and we look forward to integrating our synergies further to reimagine education for students everywhere. Our goal is to empower every student in India with quality education. With our expansion plans and student-centric approach, we are confident that AESL will continue to broaden its horizons and lead the way in the education sector.”

The Aakash-BYJU’S partnership is emerging as an excellent example of how two industry leaders can join forces to create a powerful, comprehensive education offering for students. With AESL’s continued expansion in the physical and digital domains, and with its revenues expected to cross Rs 3,000 crores this year, the company is well-positioned to maintain its position as the leader in test prep for JEE and NEET coaching in India. As Aakash-BYJU'S prepares for an IPO, this partnership not only highlights the importance of strategic alliances in India’s education landscape but also reflects AESL’s market-leading position, rapidly growing revenue and profits, and bright future prospects.
