ABP Majha all set to kick-off Ganeshotsav Celebration 'Bappa Majha'

Indian Mythological sources stress the need for recitation of the name of Lord Ganesh before starting any work.

 

With a prayer on its lips, ABP Majha the leading Marathi News Channel for progressive Maharashtrians globally kicks off the largest Ganeshotsav Celebrations- Bappa Majha from 19th Sept 2012.  

 

A PRAYER IN MUSHAK’S EAR . At the popular Temple in Begum Bahar  of  Lord Ganesh, the elephant headed God, son of Shiva & Parvati,there’s always a queue at the statue of Ganesha’s mouse Mushak. Devotees whisper a prayer in one ear of Mushak and cover the other ear with their hand. The belief is simple – If you whisper your prayer to the mouse, it will reach the Lord faster and will be granted soon. Provided you dont look at the moon on that day as the moon had laughed at Lord Ganesha when he fell off Mushak who suddenly stopped on seeing a large snake .

 

Shivaji, the great Maratha ruler, worshipped the Lord to promote a sense of nationalism amongst his people. Later it was Lokmanya Tilak, who revived the tradition as he felt this was the ideal way to get the cry for freedom right across all communities and boundaries.Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the birthday of Lord Ganesh (Ganesha), the God of wisdom and prosperity on the fourth day of the moons bright fortnight, or period from new moon in the lunar month of Bhadrapada.  

 

When Lord Ganesha comes calling  on ABP Majha’s  GANESHOTSAV- BAPPA MAJHAon September 19, he wouldn’t be riding on the mythical mouse alone, but also on the mass appeal of lakhs of devotees, who would assemble at big and small pandals to chant Ganpati Bappa Mauya in unison.The  Ganpati festival has turned into one of city’s biggest and is observed by devoted Hindus in all parts of the world.
