AD insight by Architectural Digest India debuts in Mumbai

Architectural Digest India, the ultimate design bible published by Condé Nast India, launched “AD Insight”, an architecture and design conclave, in association with Asian Paints, on 13th of November at Tote on the Turf, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai. A panel discussion titled ‘The Way we Live: Our Homes in the Future’ shone a spotlight on the present and future residential architecture and interior design trends in the region and was attended by eminent speakers from the industry.

Through a series of conversations, AD Insight aims to explore the direction of Indian interior design for homes. While many discussions in the architecture-interior design community look at urban design and macro design topics, AD Insight focusses on the practical side of space and product design- how it is influenced by changes in the way we live and what do today’s rising trends indicate about the future of the Indian home.

The speakers at the panel discussion included Amit Syngle, President, Sales, Marketing, and Technology at Asian Paints; Kashef Chowdhury, Principal Architect at Kashef Chowdhury/URBANA; Mann Singh, Head, Product Design, JSL Lifestyle, Ms. Nipa Doshi, Co-founder, Doshi Levien (London) and Michael Snyder, Contributing Editor, Architectural Digest.

Commenting on the occasion, Manju Sara Rajan, Editor, Architectural Digest India, said “The idea behind AD Insights was to initiate a much-needed conversation on how design impacts our lives. The first AD Insight conversation, held on Thursday, was about understanding how the way we live influences the design of our interior spaces.”

Inspired by Asian Paints’ exclusive offerings of textures and wallpapers, Architectural Digest created a setting, called “The Den” for this discussion. The Den, a make-believe home uses Asian Paints' Royale Play Archi Concrete on the focal wall and natural fibre grass cloth from Nilaya by Royale Play on the side walls. The subtle, indulgent finishes represented a future in which luxury should mean embracing high quality materials and natural colours inspired by the immediate environment of a home.
