Ad Land’s Young Guns: Shria Tikoo is Manager – Legal, Kulfi Collective

Shria Tikoo is Manager - Legal at Kulfi Collective, where she heads the legal team across all verticals. She specialises in Intellectual Property and enjoys vetting agreements.

In conversation with Adgully, Shria Tikoo speaks about her journey with Kulfi Collective, her mantra for a successful work life, long term and viable career, effective communication and empathy and more.

What particular skill sets do you think you bring to the table?

Effective communication and empathy is what I bring to the table. As an in-house lawyer, it’s valuable to have these two skills. It has helped me understand various perspectives and navigate negotiations well.

How did you join your current organisation?

I was looking for opportunities on LinkedIn and came across one at Kulfi. I had heard a lot about them and followed Vitamin Stree’s content on YouTube. I didn’t think twice before applying, and the rest is history!

Icons in this field whom you look up to and how they have influenced you and your work?

I have been inspired by several leaders and peers since the beginning of my career. My current boss (oops, colleague!), Saajan, has influenced me a great deal this past year. His solution-oriented approach (and oh lord, how unique each of his solutions is) is what I adore and try to imbibe.

What are the five most productive things that you do in your everyday routine?

  • Making a to-do list is the first thing I do. It helps me calendarise my entire day with some buffer slots for any urgent calls or fire-fighting!
  • I write down everything (minutes of meetings, action points, etc.) in my diary, which has now become an extension of my hand, instead of trying to memorise anything because I’m approaching 30, and my memory has started failing me.
  • I take breaks as and when I start feeling tired, and don’t force myself to work as that proves to be counterproductive.
  • At the end of each day I check my emails and messages, and make a rough plan for the next day.
  • Bonus: Chai! Having 2-3 cups of tea keeps me focussed and calm.

Do you think a career in this field is a viable one in the long term?

A career in this field is viable in the long term, given how many ideas float around here every minute!

What does it take to succeed in a career?

Networking and upskilling would stand out for me to succeed in any career.

What would be your advice to youngsters planning to enter this industry?

Keep an open mind, because there’s so much to learn in this dynamic industry!

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I see myself in a more diverse role here, at Kulfi, working at the intersection of legal and technology.

Is there any organisation that you would like to work with in the future?

While there are a number of great organisations in the industry, I would love to be a part of what Kulfi is continuously evolving into.

Our culture and values are the core reasons, and our pursuit of innovation and technical advancements is the cherry on top!
