Adani appoints Sanjay Pugalia amid buzz around plans to acquire media group

Amid the buzz around Adani Group’s plans to acquire a major media group, Adani Group has brought on board veteran journalist Sanjay Pugalia as CEO and Editor-in-Chief to lead the Group’s media initiatives. He joins in from Quint Digital Media, where he was President and Editorial Director.

At Adani Group, he will report to Pranav Adani and will also work closely with Sudipta Bhattacharya and extend his support to the Corporate Communications team.

Pugalia has wide ranging experience in digital, television and print media. A renowned political and business journalist, Pugalia had launched and headed CNBC-Awaaz for 12 years. Earlier, as News Director, he had set up Star News in Hindi, headed Zee News and was part of the founding team of AajTak.

Pugalia has also worked with Australia’s Nine Network’s Indian joint venture in 2000-2001 as President and Head of Strategic Planning and Film Business. As a print journalist, he has worked with Business Standard and Navbharat Times. He was also a regular contributor to BBC Hindi Radio during the 1990s.
