Adgully Exclusive | A site with direct approach to sexual help: Love Matters

Love Matters, a website about love, sex, relationships and everything in between. The website is designed in a way that you'll find the latest news and views on sex-related topics from around the world, the left hand menu leads to loads of blush-free information to help you get the best out of sex and relationships and stay healthy and happy. Lovematers.com is a new web portal launched by Radio Netherlands Worldwide. The portal is primarily about sex education and sexual health targeting youth between 14 ' 25 years.

In an exclusive conversation with Adgully, Michele Ernsting, Project Head, Love Matters, Amitabh Srivastava, Country Manager - South Asia, Radio Netherlands Worldwide and Vithika, senior human rights professional, shared some insights about the portal and also discussed the need of launching in markets like India.

Speaking about the features, content and the idea behind launching the portal, Michele Ernsting, Project Head, Love Matters, said, "The actual thing behind launching this website was to start it with a direct approach to sexual help. It talks and explains clearly about sex, as in teen age children start discussing about all such things in a very open manner, may be among friends etc. This site even helps to get the in-depth knowledge about making your decision right in terms of sex. Also the language used is easy and simple. The site loads very quickly and the best part is when you enter the website you feel as if you are talking to a friend."

Adding further, she said, "up till now this portal has done really well in controlling unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, helped in safe abortions etc. Basically all the bad things that go along with unsafe sex have lowered down in Netherlands."

Speaking about India as market for this portal, she added, "The reason behind launching it was that we thought that this is the right time to see whether it works in other places or not and secondly even in India if you ask people, even the educated class who have access over internet and can gain information on this topic, would still complain that they don't have appt information. And our website gives all the knowledge which one needs from avoiding sexually transmitted diseases to pleasure in sex. Also mostly people are not getting use full information on this topic."

Further elaborating her point, Michele explained saying that the company is launching a Hindi website very soon because most of the people come to their website looking for information in Hindi. And also if there is a need in other languages as well, we would happily work on satisfying the need."

Telling about the contribution to the Indian society through a portal, she said, "We just want people to use our information in a smarter way. We believe that if you give them better information they will use it in a better way."

Vithika said, "Looking at the statistics more visitors are coming in from south Asia, India and Pakistan being on the top and also looking at the demand, we clearly feel that there is a need for such portal and also in the basic language that is Hindi. So satisfying the need of Hindi language facility, we think launching a Hindi content based web portal would be our pioneer activity."

Michele says, "We now have 100 thousand visitors coming in which shows that people are searching for this information and are stumbling on our site even though it is pretty well hidden as of now. "

Vithika added speaking about the name of the web portal, "We would make sure that this web portal works in every country and right information is distributed. Also the name has a Hindi tag line, "love matters, pyaar ki baatein,' which was chosen after a long discussion with among ourselves and common people."

Speaking about the details on the Project from Radio Netherlands Worldwide point of view ' their vision, Amitabh Srivastava, Country Manager - South Asia, Radio Netherlands Worldwide, said, "It's been more than five to six months that we are working on it and the main point was that we already had a website but the question was how to grow the partnership so that we can place our content on various other popular web sites."

"Our first client was reliance and through R-World application we are available and we are getting a very good response with. And our second target was Rediff, which is again a very satisfying partner; they have a separate section called, GET AHEAD, where we are already present. The basic idea was to expose our content on such websites. We want to grow our partnership more and we are currently focusing on that, so that is our game plan as of now," added Amitabh.

Speaking about the monetization plans, he said, "Firstly, we are a state funded company and so no economics is involved in it as of now. And there is a possibility that we monetize it in future and especially through mobile, which is huge market and we would love to test it."

Since it is a non commercial website, the company would not wish to take the advertorial board as they are so very sure that content would sell as there is a huge demand for it.

Well!!! as of now it is a wait and watch thing that whether the Indian audience welcomes it or not? | By Aanchal Kohli [aanchal(at)adgully.com]
