Adgully Exclusive | Nobody does what we do at Veruschka: Designer Payal Kothari

Payal Kothari, a young and passionate designer with her label, Veruschka, offered amazing designs and styles of shoes in her new collection called "Shoe Bibliotheque" at the Talent Box show at Lakme Fashion week winter/festive 2011. Strongly Inspired by the lovely city, Paris, the line showcased timeless designs with a modern feel. Models walked tall in pumps, peep toes, wedges and stilettos which were really stunning.

In an exclusive chat with Adgully at Lakme fashion week 2011, Payal spoke about her collection and her journey with Lakme.

Payal says, "we started Veruschka about 5 years ago and till now we have a strong cliental. Lots of women who come to us look for fashionable shoes. So this season at LFW we have come up with our new collection which is called "Shoe Bibliotheque', which is basically inspired by the pervasion fashion. We have taken the outlook from Paris fashion and we contemporized the whole look."

"This season we have used beautiful colours. There is a lot of satin with lots of prints as well as solid satins and all have been mixed together to give a very very international look to our shoes. All the shoes have lift in the front with multi colors and with high counters," added Payal.

When asked about her association with Lakme Fashion Week she told us that it was her first season and did her debut show this season and received a good response.

If one wants to make the audience gaze at the collection there should be something unique in it. "I can very strongly say that nobody does what we do. In apparels you can see a little bit of clatter as there are so many designers coming up but when it comes to shoes there are very few people who does that," says Payal.

Talking about her brand association and celebrity associations, she said, "Tanisha Mukherjee walked for us this season. We have designed lots of shoes for the celebs. We have done lots of fashion shows like Priya kataria puri show this season. We have done all the shoes for her. Previously we have worked with Manish Malohtra, Vikram, Rina Dhaka and many more as they love to use our shows for their ramp."

Talking about her challenges, she said, "At the back end is that we have been using new technologies, different patterns, and different silhouettes and at the front end the main challenge would be reaching out to international buyers."

Telling about future projects, she said, "We are probably tieing up with more fashion shows like Femina Miss India. We will also be looking forward for making a web portal wherein women can design their own shows sitting at home and the product would be delivered at their place."

While signing off she gave a piece of advice saying that "get your business sense right, with your designs which you probably learn and mix together or pair the two and keep going."

Fashion for her is comfort and it starts from bottom that is shoes. Just be comfortable in what you are wearing. Just don't keep your clothes important but give your shoes a chance. Being known for high and comfortable heels, the brand keeps in mind and makes sure that they stick to their promise and a woman who wears Veruschka shoes would love it and stick to it. | By Aanchal Kohli [aanchal(at)adgully.com]
