adidas Originals previews its 'ORIGINALS BY PARLEY' footwear collection at FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week

adidas Originals, previewed one of its most progressive and sustainable footwear collections created with long-time partner Parley for the Oceans, with a power-packed show in association with new-age designer labels - Antar Agni by Ujjawal Dubey and Khanijo by Gaurav Khanijo on the ‘Sustainable Fashion Day’ at FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week.

The runway showcased the perfect blend of effortless style and innovative sustainability, followed by a show-stopping entry by Actor & Singer, Shruti Haasan, who walked the ramp wearing Antar-Agni paired with the adidas Originals Forum Mid Parley shoes from the soon to be launched, ‘Originals by Parley’ footwear collection.

Sunil Gupta, Senior Director, Brand adidas, India said,We are extremely excited to be partnering with FDCI & Lakmé Fashion Week for their ‘Sustainable Fashion Day’ to preview one of our most remarkable and progressive footwear collections. Parley for the Oceans has been a longstanding global partner in our mission to ‘End Plastic Waste’, and it is the commitment to this mission that has resulted in some of the most innovative and sustainable adidas sports products. With ‘adidas Originals by Parley’ collection, we have come together to bring back a collection of the most iconic sneakers of all times in an eco-friendly and sustainable avatar, re-imagined for a better tomorrow.”

Slated for a nationwide launch on Earth Day, the Three Stripes and Parley have come together to bring these signature looks firmly into the future. The collection will include iconic sneaker franchises such as, Nizza Hi, Nizza Lo, Superstar, Stan Smith, ZX 8000, Forum Mid, Forum Low, and NMD_R1, as well as two women’s exclusives: the Forum Bold W and Nizza Platform W. Already timeless in their own right, each sneaker in the collection has been made with a yarn which contains at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic — re-imagined plastic waste, intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, preventing it from polluting our oceans. The other 50% of the yarn is recycled polyester. Serving as just one of the innovations that represent adidas’ commitment to help End Plastic Waste, effortless style and progress come together for a collection where every step makes a difference.

Staying true to their design aesthetics, Antar Agni and Khanijo presented collections that represented change and the ongoing performance that is life.

Speaking about the show Gaurav Khanijo of Khanijo said, "Doing a show after two years has been nothing less than an ecstatic moment in itself and we are absolutely elated to have been able to present this collection and the idea behind it along with adidas.  This collection is special to us in many ways, for it has brought together so many hands from across the country. It's reminiscent of the showman's spirit and a special dedication to the spirit of the circus that I saw come alive in the form of my team that made this possible, this one is for my backend backbone, Cirque du Soul”.

Adding further, Ujjawal Dubey, the founder of Antar Agni said, “What an adrenaline rush today was! Super stoked we got to share the stage with adidas and are so glad that the gorgeous Shruti Haasan humbled us with her presence. This collection is very special to us, and the use of colour play is something distinct that we engaged in this time round. We are positive that our consumers will appreciate this collection as much as they have loved all Antar Agni’s previous collections.”

While Khanijo’s collection was inspired by the circus and was a metaphor for the never-ending show, presented through a mish mash of handlooms, indigenous embroideries, artisanal textiles into handcrafted pieces celebrating Indian craftsmanship in an artful streetwear collection; Antar Agni’s showcase presented a new expression of the brand’s design aesthetic through graphic prints and bold colours complementing the layers and silhouettes, brought together in a story of the paradoxes of minimalism and maximalism.

adidas Originals by Parley collection launches globally on World Earth Day, 22nd April 2022, and will be available in India across all adidas Originals retail stores and digitally on adidas.co.in and on the adidas India shopping app.
