AI & automation will continue to transform the marketing landscape in 2023:Mukesh Ghuraiya

The year 2023 has started on a rollercoaster note, with an accelerated adoption of generative AI, AI chatbots, and digital innovations. This is bringing in new operational efficiencies, stronger strategies, a far greater emphasis on building deep bonds with various stakeholders and consumers. In keeping with the current market ecosystem, technology and a human approach are seen as going hand in hand.

As part of our annual TRENDING NOW series, Adgully has been approaching key industry leaders to Crystal Gaze into 2023 to highlight the major trends and developments that they see dominating the industry in the year ahead.

In conversation with Adgully, Mukesh Ghuraiya, Chief Marketing Officer, Modi Naturals, speaks at length about the key marketing trends in 2023, rise of AI and automation, growth of Voice search, a greater focus on health & wellness across various sectors and industries, and more.

Key trends dominating marketing in 2023

I believe the key marketing trends that are likely to dominate the industry in 2023 are:

Increased Emphasis on Customer Experience: In 2023, customer experience will continue to be a key focus area for marketers. With the increasing competition, consumers are looking for brands that offer exceptional customer experiences across all touchpoints. Brands that can create personalised, seamless, and memorable experiences will be able to differentiate themselves from their competitors and build long-term customer loyalty.

Rise of AI and Automation: Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation will continue to transform the marketing landscape in 2023. AI-powered marketing technologies will enable marketers to better understand and segment their target audience, optimise campaigns, and personalise content at scale. Automation will also streamline routine tasks, freeing up time for marketers to focus on more strategic initiatives.

Increased Importance of Social Media: Social media will continue to be a dominant force in the marketing industry in 2023. With the continued growth of social media platforms and the increasing importance of influencer marketing, brands will need to have a strong social media presence to reach and engage with their target audience.

Growth of Voice Search: Voice search is expected to become increasingly popular in 2023, as more and more consumers use voice-enabled devices such as smart speakers and virtual assistants. Marketers will need to optimise their content for voice search, which requires a different approach to SEO and content creation than traditional search.

Major expectations from 2023

Some of the key trends that I believe are going to impact the FMCG sector in 2023 and the coming years are:

Digital Transformation - With the rising adoption of the digital ecosystem, consumers are becoming more and more tech-savvy, and businesses are leveraging these data and technologies to engage with their customers. In 2023, we will continue to see greater emphasis on digital transformation across industries, with businesses investing in AI, big data analytics, and machine learning to gain insights into consumer behaviour, improve customer experience, and streamline operations.

Health & Wellness - In the post pandemic era, with rising health awareness, consumers are prioritising their health & wellness more than ever before. In 2023, we can expect to see an even greater focus on health & wellness across various sectors and industries, with businesses offering products and services that specifically promote healthy lifestyles and prioritise mental and physical wellbeing.

Personalization - With the availability of big data and advanced analytics, businesses can personalise their products and service offerings to meet the specific needs and preferences of their consumers. In 2023, we expect to see even greater emphasis on personalization and hyper-personalisation, with businesses leveraging artificial intelligence, recommendation engines and machine learning to deliver hyper-personalised experiences to their consumers.

Sustainability - Consumers are increasingly getting conscious of their impact on the environment and are looking for products and services that are eco-friendly and sustainable. Hence, businesses are adopting sustainable practices and offering environmentally friendly products. In 2023, we will see a continued focus on sustainability, with more companies investing in sustainable packaging, reducing carbon emissions, and adopting sustainable sourcing practices.

Key focus areas for Modi Naturals in 2023

Major focus areas that I believe will be crucial for the success of our company in 2023 are:

In the coming year, digital marketing will continue to be a key focus area for our company. With the increasing adoption of digital channels, we need to ensure that our digital marketing strategies are effective in reaching our target audience and driving sales. This includes optimising our website and online presence, using social media platforms to engage with consumers, and leveraging digital advertising to increase brand awareness and drive traffic to our e-commerce platforms. We also plan to build our D2C platform this year.

To ensure that our marketing strategies are effective and efficient, we need to focus on data-driven marketing. This includes leveraging data analytics to gain insights into consumer behaviour and preferences, optimising our marketing campaigns based on data-driven insights.

With consumers becoming increasingly health-conscious and eco-friendly, we will focus on developing innovative products that cater to these changing preferences.

We strongly believe that omni-channel is the way forward, hence we will continue to focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences at every touchpoint. This includes ensuring that our products are readily available through online and offline channels, providing excellent customer service, and creating engaging and personalised experiences through our marketing campaigns.

Brand Building is another key focus area for us. In today’s crowded market, building a strong brand is more important than it ever was. We are focused on building a strong brand identity that resonates with our target audience and communicates our values and unique selling propositions.
