All India Radio to be now called Akashvani

The CEO of Prasar Bharati, Gaurav Dwivedi, has issued an internal order stating that "All India Radio" should be referred to as "Akashvani" going forward. According to media reports, this decision had already been made and is now being implemented. The term "Akashvani" was suggested by Rabindranath Tagore in 1939. The directive from Dwivedi requires immediate compliance with the change from AIR to Akashvani.
