Amazon 2nd among e-commerce sites in India

Vizisense.com has released an online traffic report that displays Amazon.com ' a US-based online shopping portal ' as the number one player in the Indian market as far as the e-commerce website sphere is concerned.

Amazon.com trails eBay in the standings. According to the report, Amazon.com attracted 1.18 million unique users while eBay stamped its authority with 1.92 million unique users. This is an important feat for Amazon.com, especially since the online giant has not even set-up a sales operations unit in India till now.

Amazon.com has three development centres in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai that are responsible for the company' software development nuisance.

With this development, Amazon.com has gained a definite traction against direct rivals like Rediff.com and Indiatimes.com that attracted 9.2 lakh and 7.2 lakh users to their shopping platforms respectively. It was further measured that 80 percent of the users visiting Amazon.com were male while 72 percent of the users belonged to the age group of 15-35 years.

Maharastra contributed 18 percent of the total traffic to Amazon while the share of Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka stood at 16, 13 and 8 percent respectively.
