Amazon beefs up its grocery & household offering in India with Pantry

Amazon has expanded its offerings in India with the launch of Amazon Pantry, its online supermarket for grocery and household needs. Amazon Pantry is currently available in select areas of Hyderabad only. There are plans to expand to many more cities in the coming months.

Amazon Pantry lets customers buy groceries and household products in various sizes that are cost prohibitive to deliver for free. Customers can fill a virtual box of items from the Amazon Pantry store and have them delivered to their doorstep for a delivery charge of Rs 20 per box. Amazon Pantry boxes differ in size and can hold up to 15 kg of products.

Amazon is currently running a promotional offer under which Amazon Pantry is free for Prime members. As is known, Amazon recently launched its globally popular Amazon Prime membership programme in India. With Prime, Indian customers in over 100 cities can enjoy unlimited free one-day and two-day delivery on eligible products.

Amazon.in has revamped its on-site and app experience to allow customers to seamlessly discover and choose Prime products. Customers searching for products can use the new “Prime” filter to look for all eligible products. Prime is being offered at an introductory annual subscription fee of Rs 499, a discount of Rs 500 over the list price of Rs 999.
