Amitabh Bachchan kicks off the second season for 'Dettol NDTV Banega Swachh India'

With a commitment of making India healthier and cleaner by 2019, ‘Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India’ is all set to launch the second season with campaign ambassador Amitabh Bachchan across NDTV network starting 2nd October. After successfully completing a year since the launch, the second year initiatives will begin with the launch of “Swachhta ki Paathshala” for school children, which will be conducted Description: Dettol–NDTV Swachh Banega India    

In its 2nd year nationwide initiative Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India, the focus will be on driving behaviour change amongst school children and communities. Dettol in partnership with NDTV, XSEED and Butterfly EduFields has developed a hygiene curriculum for children in primary schools across the country. The curriculum has been  developed in 4 languages – Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu; and will comprise of Student workbook, Teachers curriculum manual and Awareness material such as Teaching aids. In all there will be 45 lessons which will be delivered through 5 modules over a period of 3 years focussing on Personal Hygiene, Hygiene at Home, Hygiene at School, Hygiene in the Neighbourhood and Hygiene During Illness. In the first year, the curriculum will be used in 10,000 schools across the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar and Tamil Nadu and aims to educate 2.5 million children. The campaign will be working together with the Central and State governments, NGOs and citizens to ensure a maximum impact.

While interacting with the students, Campaign Ambassador, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, ‘It is very important that at this age we put in this kind of culture in our youth, make it a as a part of the curriculum would be welcome as we can ensure proper hygiene habits are formed’

We are also working with 200 villages in Uttar Pradesh & Bihar to make them open-defecation free through a community behaviour change program and constructing over 25,000 toilets with the Swades Foundation & Save the Children.
