Anchor Panasonic shares its vision with Earth Hour 2013!

On the completion of 50 years of operation in 2013, Anchor Panasonic, one of India’s leading electrical solutions company, had unveiled ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya’ as its vision for the future.

The thought behind the vision was conceptualized by Scarecrow Communications. Extracted from a famous shloka from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishads, ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya’ means ‘Leading from Darkness to Light’. Since Anchor Panasonic has committed itself to rural electrification and to explore green energy avenues like solar and wind energy, the shloka perfectly articulates its future plans.

In its endeavour to take forward its vision in every possible way, Anchor Panasonic found a perfect partner in WWF-India and its global initiative - Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is a concept where 60 minutes of darkness lead to light in the form of many positive transformations. Every year, Earth Hour brings together millions of supporters across the world, as we as celebrates WWF’s commitment to a better and brighter future.

Anchor Panasonic has joined hands with WWF India and Earth Hour (India) as the Cause Partner. Owing to the common thread between the company’s vision and that of Earth Hour’s, this year’s event has been named ‘EARTH HOUR TAMASO MA JYOTIRGAMAYA Event - Leading from darkness to light.’

The event is also supported by the Government of Delhi. It will be held 7.15pm onwards at Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi, on March 23. (Earth Hour will be commemorated between 8.30 to 9.30pm)

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Shiela Dikshit will be the Chief Guest for the event.

Renowned musicians like Rekha Bhardwaj and Desi Roots will join the celebration.

Rekha Bhardwaj will also perform a special rendition of Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya. Anchor has also specially created the Earth Hour Anthem (Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya – conceptualised by Scarecrow Communications).

At the closing of Earth Hour, just before lights across the world come back on, renowned classical singer Pandit Pranab Biswas, leading playback singer Bonnie Chakravarthy, and leading music composer and percussionist Rooshin Dalal will conclude the event by performing the Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya anthem.

The event is being managed by Miran Productions.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dinesh Aggarwal, Joint Managing Director, Anchor Electricals, said, “We are elated to be part of such a global movement for climate change. As Anchor celebrates its 50 years of inception, it commits itself, along with its parent Panasonic, to make products that enable energy generation, management and conservation.

‘Tamaso ma Jyotirgamay’ is also our motto as we endeavour to light up millions of homes with high quality but affordable products. Support of earth hour 2013 is a way of showing our commitment towards building a greener planet.”
