Arnab Goswami quits Times Now...and nation wants to know why

In a surprise development that has sent the nation’s media industry into a tizzy, Arnab Goswami has announced that he is quitting as Editor-in-Chief of Times Now and ET Now. In a short video being widely circulated on social media, Goswami is seen addressing his colleagues at Times Now, where he says, “We’ve built this place together... Game has just begun”.

Though Adgully was not able to elicit any response from Times Now while filing this story, various reports suggests that Goswami announced his resignation at the editorial meeting held on Tuesday afternoon.

Though his next endeavour is unclear, media is abuzz with reports that he may start his own venture.

Goswami had joined Times Now in 2006. His marquee prime time show, ‘Newshour’, aired at 9 pm on November 1, 2016, is said to be his last show with Times Now. The show has been largely responsible to Times Now’s consistently high ratings amongst English News channels. As per BARC India’s ratings for Week 42 (October 15-21) of 2016 [All India (U+R) : NCCS AB : Males 22+ Individuals], Times Now had garnered 632 Weekly Impressions (000s) sum.

His show ‘Frankly Speaking with Arnab’ has been the most followed show in terms of viewership and impact.
