At 49 billion, Kids’ related YouTube channel garners highest viewership in 2020: Report

Every month, approximately 1.9 billion logged-in users use YouTube, watching over a billion hours of video and generating billions of views. This rapidly expanding video platform provides a fantastic chance for creators to express themselves while also garnering brand collaboration.

Eleve, an AI-powered influencer marketing tool for brands and agencies, has come out with a report on the top 10 YouTube influencers and content creators across 16 categories in terms of content viewership, in the year 2020.

According to the findings of the report, right after the lockdown started in 2020, food content consumption generated around 2 billion views from top 10 YouTube channels in just 3 months.

Meanwhile, Kids’ related YouTube channel generates highest viewership among all genres. As per the viewership data of the top 10 YouTube channels, Comic skit videos are more popular than adult animation and web shorts. CS Bisht Vines is the only adult animation YouTube channel to generate more than 2 billion views.

As per 2020 viewership data, Shruti Arjun Anand, MostlySane, Samreen Ali, Captain Nick and Rickshawali are the top female comedy content creators on the YouTube India platform.

Music was one of the most viewed genres in 2020, with the top 10 music YouTube channels in India generating more than 93 billion views.

Along with television, YouTube was also a prime platform for consumption of news during the pandemic period as people were looking for the latest developments and government announcements. The top 10 news YouTube channels generated more than 27 billion viewership in the year 2020.

Kids’ content

The top 10 kids YouTube channels generated around 49 billion views in 2020, with ChuChu TV Nursery Rhymes & Kids Songs being the most viewed YouTube channel, registering 8.3 billion viewership in 2020.

Telugu and Tamil are the most viewed regional languages in the kids’ category, with CVS 3d Rhymes and Infobells Tamil leading the race.

Gaming

The top 10 gaming YouTube channels generated around 9.5 billion views in 2020. The second half of 2020 generated 69% of the total viewership from the top gaming channels. With a viewership of 2.1 billion in 2020, Techno Gamerz was the top gaming content creator.

As per DataLabs by INC42 Plus, the Esports audience in India reached 17 million by the end of 2020, with Esports start-ups and companies in India generating an aggregate revenue of $68 million in FY2020.

The top 10 comic skit YouTube channels generated around 5.9 billion views in 2020. CarryMinati was the most viewed comedy skit content creator at 1.18 billion viewership in 2020. Ashish Chanchlani Vines followed close behind with a viewership of 1.1 billion.

Regional Comedy Shorts

JKK Entertainment (4.8 billion views), Khandeshi Movies (2.8 billion views) and Chhotu Ki Masti (1.2 billion views) emerged as the three most popular regional content creators in India, generating a total of 8.8 billion views in 2020.
